PI DataLink
Allows PI to access and deliver data to and from spreadsheet programs and create easy-to-read reports.
Component Summary
PI DataLink creates a bi-directional connection between your spreadsheet programs and the Universal Data Server (UDS), giving you easy access to your process data, along with the analysis tools of Microsoft Excel or Lotus 1-2-3. Creating reports, such as monthly production summaries, has never been easier.
With PI DataLink, you can write and publish reports, automatically update them, perform complex database queries, and analyze your business processes. Whether you're creating daily production reports, monthly production summaries, quality control overviews, or environmental compliance reports, DataLink gives you instant access to the process data you need. Reports become richer with extended analysis because DataLink enables the import, export, and transformation of data from multiple servers.
PI DataLink supports the publishing capabilities of Excel and Lotus 1-2-3, which means you can distribute reports via the Internet, as email, or as printed copies.
PI DataLink can send data to servers, as well as retrieve them. For example, laboratories can add test results to the archive for storage and later use. Test results are postdated and stamped with the time the sample was taken from the product stream.
Technical Overview
PI DataLink provides a link between the PI System and spreadsheet programs running on Microsoft Windows platforms. With PI DataLink, users can bi-directionally exchange PI data with Microsoft Excel or Lotus 1-2-3. This capability, combined with the functionality of the spreadsheet, make PI DataLink a powerful, easy-to-use tool for gathering, analyzing, and reporting process data.
PI DataLink consists of the following modules:
- Add-In for Microsoft Excel
- Add-In for Lotus 1-2-3
PI DataLink is built with OSIsoft's PI API product. Users proficient in Excel, VBA, or 1-2-3 LotusScript programming can easily develop routines within these spreadsheets that call up PI API functions. Users who wish to develop programs outside of Excel or Lotus 1-2-3 will need to purchase a separate PI API license.
